PAINTING & SOFT SCULPTURE PAIR
This work was exhibited as part of “In the Hall of the Mountain King”— a 2017 solo exhibition at Eyedrum in Atlanta, Georgia. (See Press page for a review by Jerry Cullum.) The title references the Edvard Grieg composition based on Ibsen’s play, Peer Gynt.
There was an audio component to the exhibition; viewers had the option to listen in through headphones suspended from the ceiling while looking at the paintings and soft sculptures. The soundtrack pulls together snippets of Grieg’s composition, a LibriVox reading from Ibsen’s play, and local radio (static, country music, pop, Ole Miss students praying for a football player, sermons...). You can hear a short clip from the exhibition audio by clicking on the embedded video (above).
